Transferring money to the Philippines using Xoom.com

Written by Rasmus

Topics: Outsourcing

Up until now I have been using Xoom.com for transferring funds to my Filippino workers. But apparently Xoom.com does not want my money, because they are now raising the minimum amount to 50$ (which is ok), but as this blog post suggests, they are also now only accepting US bank accounts and US credit cards.

Damn… Anyone know of any similar services that can be used instead? And isn’t a bit silly that they do now want my money (it typically cost me 10$ per transaction).

  1. Hi,
I changed to swift and bank payments. I was afreaid that I needed to use the branch but it seems like I can just transfere to a swift number for the full bank. And the transaction cost in my end is only 5$. I’m not sure what is taken in the other end.

@Daniel: Thanks. But what if the recipient does not have a bank account? One of my Filippinos are using cash pickup.

    Try Sendah.com :)

  6. Rasmus says:

I haven’t tested it out. It looks a bit too shabby for me to try it.

I have reverted back to PayPal.

I’ve switched to PayPal as well. I’m just adding the 6% fee so that my people don’t have to take a pay cut because of Xoom.

  8. Rasmus says:

@Mikael: Wasn’t aware that it was 6%, thought it was just a couple %. Well, there are not a lot of alternatives.
